BAH HUM BUG! / HOLIDAY TOWN SQUARE
« on: December 24, 2020, 03:08:37 PM »
Bells jingled in the distance, a man in a Santa outfit happily ringing a jingle stick as he advertised the latest toys in the window display for the last minute shoppers. Snow floated sleepily down from the sky, settling in a fairly thin layer on the ground, sparkling under the colorful lights that lit up the town square. Wreaths hung on most shop doors, and green and red or blue and white decorations lined the display windows. A mix of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa had taken over the town square, adorning the shops and streets with the idea of joy and togetherness.

”Look at the lights, Cane- do you think they still do their little dance to the music at night this year?” Marley asked as he walked down the street with his older brother.

”Probably. Makes sense the town council would go all out on decorations this year. Almost makes you forget all the missing kids.”

Marley winced at the comment, remembering just how blunt Cane could be at times. He’d rather not discuss what he couldn’t change. His green eyes averted from his brother’s stony expression to the twinkling lights. Maybe he should’ve gone alone.

”I’ll catch up with you later. Gotta stop in Mr. Burling’s for a few things,” Cane knew when he had made someone uncomfortable at least, and he left Marley’s side to go into the small alcohol shop.

Marley was left in the icy street, shoving his hands in the pockets of his fur lined denim jacket. He looked around, unsure what all he even needed today.
